CPX Interactive has entered a relationship with predictive data solutions company, Semcasting, as a ‘first major distributor’ for the company’s new online ‘cookie-free’ targeting solution, IP Audience Zones. IP Audience Zones is a ‘breakthrough audience identification platform that maps nearly 100% of online home, education and business traffic into qualified, target-ready audiences…,’ and is, used specifically to power Agency Trading Desks, DSPs, Ad Networks and Analytical Platforms.

In a press release about the new product, CPX Interactive’s Vice President of Business and Product Development, Mike Zacharski, explains why the CPX is so enthusiastic about the partnership. He says:

“Early on, our industry settled on the ‘cookie’ as the primary tool for audience targeting, and we have been slow to push innovation since that point. However targeting an audience based on the proclivities from their web-surfing habits is still, at best, inferential. Stepping away from the cookie and instead looking at targeting based on real world information about specific households within IP Zones, we have entered a new realm of targeting capabilities. We are excited to be working as a first-mover with Semcasting and we look forward to a long-term mutually beneficial relationship.”

About Semcasting

Semcasting is a supplier of predictive data solutions that help marketers, agencies and ad networks target online and offline customers. IP Audience Zones was built with the same predictive modeling technology used in the development of Semcasting’s premium data. It contains detailed, publicly available and modeled information on more than 227 million individuals–mapped as demographic zone clusters to IP Addresses. Semcasting data is licensed to data compilers and ad networks and is used by hundreds of public and private companies each month for targeting T&E, finance, retail telecommunications, and political campaigns.

ad:tech New York 2009 was a great success this year. With more than 250 exhibitors, the Javits Convention Center was packed with the largest gathering of online marketers.

ad:tech is an opportunity for brands, agencies, publishers and service providers to come together to share, network, learn and do business.

So much hard work went into the setup for CPX Interactive!

CPX Interactive had a great booth location with tons of traffic.

“A lot of our clients are here,” said, Mike Zacharski, VP of Publisher Development for CPX Interactive. “It’s a great time to meet face to face with our advertisers and publishers.”

Some of the main discussions at ad:tech New York included maximizing international markets, increasing digital spending, increased focus on internal communication and innovation with branding.

Thanks to everyone for making this ad:tech New York a success! Check out our video below! Or check out our pictures on Flickr.

By Mike Zacharski
VP of Publisher Acquisitions, CPX Interactive

When we first opened offices in Europe (Italy and Spain), we had a vision of how we wanted these International incarnations of CPX to turn out. The process was much like telling someone about your favorite place, and then hearing their own opinion after they’ve made their own memories there. Before each new office opened, we did all we could to teach them what it meant to be CPX Interactive, but then we had to step back and let them develop into their own. I spent this past week visiting CPX Italy, and the following is my recounting of how they have taken the core of CPX and added some Italian flavor:

Milan, the city itself, is modern and fast-paced. It is the fashion capital of the world and it’s a great mix of the traditional and modern. Of course, the Internet is not new to Italy. There are many successful online companies there, and Milan has grown into a hub of activity in the space since the late 1990s. Companies based there include those that service the local market as well as others that span globally and reach hundreds of millions of users in many countries. Most of the major .com’s have offices there, along with the .it’s, and you feel a definite and established online culture there, something both traditional and modern.

We have a dynamic staff led by Massimo Fontana as well as Piero Mundi on the Ad Sales side and Cecilia Sandrucci on the Business Development/Publishing side. They are like our Italian cousins, and the office is equally vibrant and lively. The days do seem to go by much faster there though, as interfacing with the US begins in the middle of the day…or maybe it’s the 2-3 espressos.

My first few days, I was focused on working with Cecilia and Henar Perez, our new hire who flew in from our Spain office. I spent the last few days there going to meetings with some of the publishers located in town. Our team is very well respected, and as it was explained to me by a friend, “the online world is a large city with a small population”. This credibility and respect is tied deeply into the culture of the country and part of the traditional way of doing business in Italy, yet at the same time, there is a deep appetite for change and growth built on new technology and a global approach, as well as a vision of media and consumption.

There is a heritage of understanding there, a very academic approach to things. Companies and people desire to learn and understand all things fully, and from all angles. There is also a sense of nationalism and pride in Italian companies and brands and a genuine welcoming of those institutions that, like CPX, have opened their doors here, and are looking to service the local market. We have the opportunity to educate a hungry market on the value of our company while at the same time filling the needs of a growing marketplace.

We have been successful there, and will continue to be, because we have aligned our solutions to meet the local needs. We reach 11 million unique users each month. We provide scalability and value for publishers and for advertisers, and we have traffic solutions from numerous sources, such as local publishers, large .com’s, and exchanges, to create campaigns that can provide branding as well as performance. We are bringing with us efficiency, as well as the experience of being a global player and of course, a healthy sense of competitive appetite and creativity that has always set us apart.

CPX is welcome in Italy, and in a short time we have established ourselves as a strong and respected brand in the market. All in all, it was great to see how the Italy team has taken the foundation that we laid for them and carved out their own place in the online advertising space.

The Internet is a constantly changing medium, and in late January, members of the domain industry gathered in Hollywood, CA to discuss how they can best anticipate, confront and conquer these changes. The venue was DOMAINfest 2009, a conference created in 2006 by DomainSponsor as a way to bring industry professionals together to learn, network, and develop business relationships. CPX Interactive was one of three Gold Sponsors for this year’s event, and hosted the opening party at Universal Studios. A section of the park was closed down to the public, and several rides were opened especially for attendees. CPX provided food and drinks, and everyone had a great time.

According to the DOMAINfest website, there are over 168 million domain names currently registered. This conference attracted “domainers” large and small, as well as marketing and advertising companies of every variety. Panel discussions covered topics such as: “Domaining 2.0—what does the next evolutionary phase of our industry look like?” “What Can We Expect from the Legal and Regulatory Environment?” and, “The Google Perspective: Winning over the Advertiser and Optimizing Site Performance through Analytics.” The Keynote Speaker was Steve Wozniak, Co-Founder of Apple. Wozniak spoke on initiating change in the Internet space, and maintaining an entrepreneurial spirit despite facing challenges.

For many, an invaluable aspect of the event was the networking opportunities it provided. In addition to “structured networking” periods after panel discussions, sponsors and exhibitors set up “pods” which provided a space for constant discussion. Yael Klein, Publisher Relations Representative at CPX Interactive, and Chris Brennan, Senior Sales Director of Publishing at CPX, attended the conference, and found that they spent most of their time in the pod meeting people and making new connections. Brennan emphasized the importance of forming new partnerships in an industry that has until now been an untapped resource. He feels that CPX is a valuable partner for domainers because we can offer domain by domain tracking statistics that no one else provides.

CPX Vice President of Publisher Acquisitions, Mike Zacharski, also attended the event, and echoed this sentiment; he sees a lot of growth potential for CPX in the domain space. Zacharski explained that CPX sponsored and attended this show in order to better understand the needs and sentiments of the domainers as well as evaluate how CPX can be a leader in developing new tools and bringing new ideas to the domain space. DOMAINfest provided these opportunities and more, and CPX Interactive is excited to continue work on releasing new products for the domain space in the near future.

Many publishers know CPX Interactive as the Internet’s most efficient monetizer of “long-tail” inventory.’ What they may not know is that CPX’s unparalleled reach and optimization allow us to monetize 100% of our publishers’ inventory – from the first ad impression to the last.

While most ad networks cherry-pick their traffic, paying out high rates and sending the rest to non-paying “defaults, ” CPX pays appropriate premium CPMs for those cherry-picked impressions… plus we fill 100% of your remaining traffic with CPM rates driven by real-time market competition, with no volume limits and no defaults. This means that publishers do not have to build multiple tiers of advertising networks (sometimes called “daisy chains”) into their fulfillment strategies. CPX Interactive is truly a one-stop inventory monetization shop.

This principle of guaranteed delivery of the highest possible paying impression ultimately means more revenue to the publisher. Vice President of Business Development, Mike Zacharski explains, “With CPX Interactive’s diverse pool of advertisers, publishers have access to over 20,000 optimized creatives every month. Our system then ‘learns’ which of these creatives are translating into maximum revenue for each specific publisher …and for each of their impressions served..and finds the most efficient ad to serve at every page level. Publishers can suddenly derive value from assets that would otherwise go unmonetized.”
